Could you tell us a little about yourself and your background? What motivated you to work in the hotel industry?
I’m Margaux Séhébiade, Assistant Manager of the Château des Fleurs hotel.
I’m a graduate of the Sorbonne, where I obtained a master’s degree in management with a specialization in tourism and the hotel industry. My studies were completed by a work-study placement with the Bertrand Hospitality group, where I had the opportunity to contribute to the reopening of three 5-star hotels: the Château des Fleurs, the Norman and the Balzac, as assistant manager.
The hotel business was my preferred environment. As the daughter of a hotelier, I grew up in this world. I’ve always had a deep admiration for my father’s career. Today, I’m proud to share with him the passion he passed on to me.
In the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to get involved both in operational activities, such as breakfast service, reception, concierge services and room control, and in strategic missions, notably in sales and communications, not forgetting financial management.
These experiences enabled me to work in establishments ranging from boutique hotels to palaces, including a 995-room jumbo jet. This gave me a comprehensive and enriching view of the industry.
Could you tell us about Le Château des Fleurs and what makes it unique in your opinion?
Located a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées, the Château des Fleurs is a 37-room 5* boutique hotel with a spa. Designed by Quintana Partners, it combines Belle Époque charm with contemporary elegance.
Beyond its ideal location, the hotel is distinguished by its authenticity and warm atmosphere, offering our guests a true Parisian home from home. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel is listed as one of the world’s finest boutique hotels, and has also been awarded a Michelin star.
What do luxury hotels and the ideal customer experience symbolize for you?
Luxury hotels symbolize excellence through tailor-made experiences, where every detail is designed to meet the unique expectations of each guest.
It’s this ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
In my opinion, the ideal customer experience is based on personalized service, where needs are anticipated with care and sincerity. It’s about making every customer feel valued, by going beyond their expectations and positively surprising them.
How would you describe your role as assistant manager, and what qualities do you think are essential for running a successful hotel?
As Assistant Manager, my role is to guarantee the operational and strategic management of the hotel. I’m responsible for coordinating services, ensuring compliance with 5-star standards and, of course, customer satisfaction.
My day-to-day work includes monitoring financial performance to optimize revenues and control costs. I’m also involved in Human Resources management, particularly recruitment, and in sales, where I take part in creating offers, developing our e-reputation and implementing strategic projects.
In a constantly evolving sector like the hospitality industry, responsiveness, rigor and empathy are essential to deliver an irreproachable customer experience, while guaranteeing a healthy and motivating work environment for our teams.
What’s the best memory or highlight of your career in the hotel business?
A highlight was when I upsold to an imperial suite for a long stay, generating a five-figure income. It was a record for the establishment, and the recognition my manager gave me at the time was very touching. It reinforced my mindset: to invest myself fully, seize every opportunity and constantly surpass myself to achieve results that surpass the objectives set.
What’s your favorite part of a typical day at Château des Fleurs?
I don’t have a typical day, and that’s precisely what stimulates me. Every day brings new challenges. However, what I enjoy most of all is solving complex situations by collaborating with teams and listening carefully to customers. These exchanges are essential and enable us to constantly perfect the experience we offer our customers, without resting on our laurels.
How do you see boutique hotels and their role in the luxury hotel industry evolving in the years ahead?
Boutique hotels are a fast-growing segment of the luxury hotel industry, and I’m convinced that this trend will become even more pronounced in the years to come.
What makes them unique is their ability to offer an experience in which each guest feels truly at home. In our business, people are at the heart of everything, and boutique hotels embody this philosophy. Customers are increasingly looking for this proximity, a tailor-made welcome and an intimate setting.
Apart from Le Château des Fleurs, which hotels or venues particularly inspire you, and why?
Originally from Biarritz, the Hôtel du Palais has always fascinated me with its history and the quality of its service. Working in this Palace has reinforced my taste for excellence and my desire to continue in the luxury hotel business.
The Château de Brindos was also a great source of inspiration. My father ran the hotel for 10 years. It was there that I discovered the hotel business at an early age.
If you had to sum up your hospitality philosophy in one sentence, what would it be?
During a conference, one sentence particularly struck me and sums up my vision of hospitality perfectly: “What matters most is not the stars on the palaces, but the ones we make shine in our customers’ eyes.”

“Born in Osaka in 1972 and now living in Berlin, Chiharu Shiota is world-renowned for her monumental installations made of interwoven woollen threads. These gigantic canvases often envelop everyday objects, inviting us on a majestic dreamlike journey. Her protean creations explore notions of temporality, movement, memory and dreams, and require both the mental and physical involvement of the viewer.”

“With his partner Pierre Bergé, Yves Saint Laurent lived surrounded by flowers and gardens on a daily basis – in his apartments, second homes or couture house. A lover of flora, he found it an infinite source of inspiration.
Yves Saint Laurent’s admiration for nature is shared by many artists and writers, particularly Marcel Proust, one of his favorite authors, as he declared in L’Egoïste in 1987.
Some thirty textile silhouettes and drawings in the exhibition highlight the symbiosis between Yves Saint Laurent’s work, nature and literature”.
Atelier des Lumières

“This retrospective, projected onto the walls of the Atelier des Lumières, invites visitors to observe the various techniques the artist has enjoyed exploring: etching, sculpture, paper and glue, assemblages, folding and ceramics. It’s an invitation to a journey to the heart of the visionary aesthetics of his works, punctuated by music, which visitors will experience through the light of their emotions. Immersed in masterpieces, the exhibition offers us a singular approach to the Work of Pablo Picasso, opening up the possibility of discovering in a different way the immense material transmitted by the artist and made possible thanks to digital technology.”
